The House Mouse

The House Mouse (Mus musculus) is the most common commensal rodent pest

found in structures and second to man, is thought to be the most widespread mammal

on earth!

Here are some House Mouse facts:

• Light brown, light gray and smooth in appearance
• Snout is pointed. Ears are large in comparison to body
• Approximately 12-30g in weight
• 3-4 inches in length
• Droppings are rod shaped, .5 inches in length
• Home range of 10-33 feet
• Can swim and are good climbers
• Young per litter: 4-8
• Litters per year: 8-10
• Lifespan: 12 months

It is also important to know that the House Mouse is omnivorous but prefers grains and can live

without a free water supply! It can obtain all the water it needs from moisture

it extracts from its food supply!

They are both territorial and highly inquisitive and may feed up to 30 times a day!
